On 30 May 2018, the European Commission published a proposal for the revision of the fisheries control system in response to loopholes identified in the current legislation and following the European Court of Auditors’ call for more efforts in European Union (EU) fisheries controls.
A group of NGOs, which include the Coalition for Fair Fisheries Arrangements, ClientEarth, the Environmental Justice Foundation, The Fisheries Secretariat, Oceana, Our Fish, The Pew Charitable Trusts, Seas At Risk and WWF (the Group) – are working with key decision makers and stakeholders to ensure that the EU will deliver a robust control system. Together, this Group has identified and created a map linking to reports and media coverage discussing EU fisheries control and potential issues in the application of relevant EU measures. Clicking on a specific country within the map will reveal a list of links to documents relevant to each country.
