A criminal case against illegal fishing activity of Patagonian toothfish carried out by Spanish vessels in the Antarctic Ocean failed, following an appeal to the Spanish supreme tribunal, La Voz de Galicia reported.
The tribunal archived the case, pointing to insufficient national law in the territory where the activity was carried out, which lies in international waters.
The accused included some members of the Vidal conglomerate. They were accused of carrying out the illegal activity since 2006.
